TIRANA, Sept. 24 /ATA/ – The Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy has held consultations with businesses and public institutions on a draft law aimed at bringing Albania’s digital markets rules into line with the EU’s Digital Markets Act and Platform-to-Business (P2B) Regulation.

The consultation, held under the Partnership Platform for European Integration in cooperation with GIZ, focused on aligning Albania’s legal framework with European standards governing digital markets and online platforms.

The draft law would introduce clearer and more transparent rules governing relations between businesses and online platforms, including clearer terms for businesses, advance notice of changes to platform conditions and greater transparency in the ranking of products and services, the Infrastructure and Energy Ministry said.

The proposed bill also envisages more effective mechanisms for handling complaints and facilitating mediation between the parties.

The Infrastructure and Energy Ministry highlighted cooperation with the business community under EU accession Chapter 10, “Digital Transformation and Media”, linking the process to the development of a more modern digital economy and a safer, more trusted environment for consumers and businesses.

The consultation forms part of Albania’s efforts to align its legislation with the EU acquis in the field of digital transformation.
