TIRANA, August 16/ATA/ The Buna River is one of the most favorite destinations of local and foreign tourists who choose to visit Shkodra.

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared today in the social media photos of the impressive landscapes that the Buna offers, transformed in these hot summer days into an oasis for many visitors who choose the freshness of its waters.

“With a hidden paradise in the Buna River just a few kilometers away from Shkodra, where one can enjoy nature on a different scale and have very special emotions during these August days”, wrote Rama.

The government is expanding investments in Shkodra, with the aim of promoting tourism in this region.

Currently, at the entrance to the city of Shkodra, near the Old Bridge of the Buna, there is work underway on the new pier with a floating platform, suitable for mooring boats.

This investment, worth 1.2 million euros, is expected to have a significant impact not only on navigation on the Buna and Lake Shkodra, but also on tourism.

The construction of three piers in Shkodra as well as the border connection by navigation and road with the villages on the shore of the lake in Montenegro will open a completely different perspective for tourism in this area. /m.m/p.s./

TIRANA, November 2/ATA/- There are works underway for construction of the pier near the Buna Bridge in Shkodra.

This is the third pier after the one in Zogaj and Shiroka.

Prime Minister Edi Rama wrote in the social media that the construction of this pier is part of the big project for the transformation of the entrance to Shkodra, which will turn this part of the city into one of the most beautiful urban areas in the country.

Earlier, PM Rama provided details on the construction of a multifunctional park on the edge of the Buna, one of the strategic projects for the transformation of Shkodra by the Albanian Development Fund, with 100% financing of the Albanian government.

PM Rama wrote that the project includes the creation of a multifunctional park on the edge of the Buna, over an area of 18 hectares.

Part of the project is the port near the Buna Bridge as a new tourist pole, as well as the establishment of a museum that will highlight for visitors and tourists the radiant history of Shkodra over the centuries.

The Head of the Executive emphasized that this project will have a high impact on facilitating movement of cars and reducing traffic in the city, as it foresees the widening of the road from Harku i Bërdica to Ura e Bahçallek, including the widening of the bridge to four lanes./p.s./

TIRANA, April 13/ATA/ Minister of State for the Protection of Entrepreneurship Edona Bilali stated today that the construction of the Buna Bridge that connects Ulqin with Velipoja will not only serve to reduce the travel distance between the two countries, Albania and Montenegro, but will be a very good opportunity to use the natural potentials found nearby.

“Statistics show that during the tourist season about 360 thousand tourists visit Velipoja and about 170 thousand Ulqin. About 34 km of sandy beaches are connected indirectly today, through the border crossing point of Murriqani, with a distance of 73 km or 1.5 hours, meanwhile, the distance that can be covered by tourists and visitors, as well as the communities of the two areas with the construction of the bridge is only 300 m or 5 min. Improving mobility and access along the Adriatic coastline not only creates a synergy between the two states, but will also enable the assessment of common cross-border natural tourism assets in the Buna River estuary area and the promotion of sustainable tourism development” , Bilali said.

A joint statement was signed between the Albanian and Montenegrin governments on October 3, 2018, which aims to support joint efforts to improve access to the cross-border area of Pulaj, Velipojë, Albania and Saint Nicholas, Ulqin, Montenegro , followed by the presentation at the “Open Balkan” forum in Ohrid, in 2022.

The cross-border area at the mouth of the Buna River represents a great potential for regional economic development and sustainable tourism development, but which still remain untapped and unconnected to each other.

Referring to a preliminary study by the Albanian Development Fund, Bilali said that the cost of building the bridge is estimated at 1.5 billion ALL./gj.m/p.s./

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared images of this project on social media today. The Albanian Development Fund will implement it.

Rama said that, “The project will be co-financed by the governments of Albania and Montenegro, to connect the two countries by reducing the distance between Velipoja and Ulqinj from 73 km to 300 m”.

The prime minister added that the bridge over the Buna River gives a new impetus to freedom of movement, tourism and the cross-border economy.

The agreement for the construction of the Buna Bridge was signed yesterday during the joint meeting of the two governments in Podgorica.

The bridge will be of category C1 and will be able to be used for cars, trucks, pedestrians, bicycles and will have two lanes, also the sidewalks.

The bridge that will connect Albania with Montenegro and that will be built over the Buna River, will have a length of 303 meters. It will have 3 arches and is expected to reduce the distance between the two countries from the current 37 kilometers to just 1 km.

Ulqini and Velipoja have a distance of only 1 km between them, but from the point of view of the current connectivity they have 73 km. With the new bridge project, the distance between Albania and Montenegro will be transformed into 1 km of road./p.s./
