Speaking at a ceremony, where the new park design was revealed, the government head noted that the project represents a new innovative model for tourism development, designed to transform a former dilapidated army site into a tourist attraction in a town that has always been associated with chromium mining.

“This is a very special project of its kind, because it will transform a dilapidated former military site into a special tourist attraction,” PM Rama said.

The government head underlined that the Albanian Development Fund will build entire infrastructure on a 10-ha area, and create conditions to house local artisans.

“The site will host women that have become embodiment of the effort to earn honest living through cultivation of the area’s food tradition, not only in terms of cooking local delicacies, but also in terms of products that are crucial in efforts to preserve tradition,” PM Rama said, adding that such an approach would promote the area’s tourism.

The government head voiced confidence that number of tourists visiting the area will grow each year.
