TIRANA, December 14/ATA/ Cyber violence is becoming a worrying phenomenon in the Albanian society.

Xheni Maneku, in charge of the Statistics, Models and Indicator Analysis sector, at the National Cyber Security Authority, gave to ATA some figures on the reports of cyber violence at the National Cyber Security Authority.

“During the period January – November 2024, there were registered 216 reports in the “Report” platform on the official website aksk.gov.al (until November 21, 2024).

“Among the 176 cases analyzed for the period January – October 2024, it came out that there are 109 reports for cyberbullying”, said Maneku.

“The majority of the complainants who report are aged between 13 and 16, but there are also cases above this age. This age represents a young and active group of internet users, highlighting the risks and challenges that they may encounter in the online environments. From the reports it has been noted that the majority of victims are women, who are often affected by cases of online harassment. While men can also be victims of other forms of exploitation on the internet. The Authority follows up each case of reporting with the relevant institutions according to the nature of the reporting and periodically informs the reporter about the progress of his case”, said Maneku. /r.e/a.f/p.s./
