TIRANA, Oct 5 /ATA/ The second meeting of the National Youth Reading Club focused on “Heaven”, a novel by Japanese author Mieko Kawakami, translated into Albanian by Andreas Dushi.

The young participants’ discussion centred on questions that affect them in their everyday lives: Why does someone bully others? Why is someone bullied? Do students encounter such experiences in the reality in which they live?

Literature provided a starting point for exploring bullying, a phenomenon experienced by many young people, by examining the experiences of the novel’s characters alongside those of students in their everyday lives.

The students identified similarities between the situations depicted in the novel and their own reality, while also offering their interpretations of the characters’ behaviour and choices.

Psychologist Skerdi Zahaj also played a key role in the meeting, joining the discussion on bullying and offering a psychological perspective on the issue. The young participants welcomed the dialogue with the psychologist as an opportunity to explore the topic beyond its literary context.

The National Youth Reading Club aims to promote reading and discussion among young people, turning books into a space for reflection on issues directly connected to their lives. At its next meeting, participants will discuss “We Children from Bahnhof Zoo”.
