TIRANA, June 23 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated on Thursday from Brussels that he does not think that there is any other country behind the Bulgarian veto on North Macedonia.

Asked at a joint press conference with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, and the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Dimitar Kovačevski, after the EU-Western Balkans summit whether the Bulgarian veto is an excuse for the EU, Rama replied that “No, I do not and did not think in any way that there is someone or there are others behind the Bulgarian madness.”

“No, it is a decision of Bulgaria. And I have to make myself clear for the Bulgarian audience whom I respect. I respect, on the contrary, any concerns they have, but I totally disagree and in fact I absolutely disagree with the way they are doing this by kidnapping a NATO member country, in fact two. This is my reasoning, ” said Rama.

“North Macedonia is not joining the EU, it is not becoming a member tomorrow, next week. So there is so much time to resolve this issue and the process itself developed by these people in this building has so many bends, labyrinths and traps. So Bulgaria can use this for decades. Amid the war, and yet amid a war, still fighting for something that has transformed the EU into a ridiculous reality. 26 countries. The most powerful countries in the world that have come to a standstill and can do nothing, because this is the mechanism, a country can veto and that is it. This is what I really do not agree with and I do not put up with, not what is being discussed and what concerns them, ” Rama said.
