TIRANA, Dec 23 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama on Tuesday warned that there would be no compromise with builders regarding construction standards, while urging full compliance with permits and regulations.

Speaking at a meeting with entrepreneurs on the 2026 Fiscal Package, Rama said the construction sector must perform with the highest responsibility.

“There is no peace with builders. Fiscal peace applies to everyone, but there is no peace on standards with builders. This sector is key and must operate with maximum responsibility,” he said.

Rama also cautioned that builders who violate permits would be placed on a “blacklist” and barred from obtaining new construction approvals for many years.

The government head voiced confidence that a new package of legal measures for the construction sector would help improve quality and ensure stricter compliance with standards.

TIRANA, July 28 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama stated Monday that builders who fail to comply with the existing regulations will be blacklisted and be barred from receiving future building permits.

Speaking at the NEST Innovation and Technology Center – an Albanian Development Fund initiative supporting academia and entrepreneurship – Rama emphasized that Albania must stiffen accountability measures in the construction sector to unlock the country’s full investment potential.

“We are preparing a new set of restrictive legal measures to balance the support we’re providing to the construction industry,” said Rama. “Without such enforcement, we risk missing a historic opportunity. No serious financier will step in the country if we continue to rely solely on pre-sales, bartering, or local buyers.”

The government head emphasized the need for legally mandated safeguards for construction projects and stricter vetting of builders.

“This includes legal provisions for project guarantees and a blacklist of developers who fail to comply with regulations, rendering them ineligible for future permits,” Rama stated.

He encouraged investors to engage directly with a new group of architects – startup entrepreneurs focused on construction financing, saying: “They have strong potential to contribute meaningfully to your projects. Make contact, share your plans, and understand how they can assist you.”

Rama also said that unlimited capital is currently available to invest in Albania’s construction sector.

“We’ve met with funds offering from 100 million euros up to 3 billion euros, ready to co-finance projects alongside our developers,” he noted.

“One major failure could shut Albania out of the global investment market for 20 years,” he warned, saying “that’s why we’ve proceeded cautiously.”

Looking ahead, Rama said the government will significantly boost its presence at global real estate expos over the next two to three years, aiming to attract international partners for domestic development projects.

TIRANA, December 15 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama reacted today to the Builders Association filing a complaint to the Constitutional Court against the demolition of buildings without permission.

The prime minister assured that the buildings that happen to be in violation of the law will be demolished or confiscated for public interest.

“The Association of Builders complained to the Constitutional Court why they are being hit hard because of violations of building permits! Let them go to The Hague or the moon if they want, but the buildings in violation with the law will be demolished or confiscated for public interest, so I hope that the Constitutional Court will not make any mistake”, said Rama. /m.m/p.s./
