At the meeting of the Consultative Council between the government and local government authorities, the Minister of State for Local Government, Arbjan Mazniku, stated that this budget will be allocated proportionally to all municipalities in the country.

“The total local government budget has seen an increase of 9.3% compared to the previous year, which outpaces both economic growth and the overall growth in budget revenues. This reflects the government’s prioritization of local government, as evidenced by how the budget has been allocated,” said Mazniku.

An important stream for local government is also the revenue it collects independently, which, according to Minister Mazniku, has increased by 11.7%.

“We are committed to providing more high-quality and dignified services to every citizen all across the country. The 2025 budget will support the empowerment of local government in this regard by first increasing the unconditional grant to municipalities by 17.1%,” said Mazniku.

According to him, the positive performance of municipalities in revenue collection is once again supported by the government, which will further increase the fund allocated to local government for the coming year. This is to ensure that the wage increases for professionals, even at the municipal level, will not in any way compromise the quantity or quality of investments that citizens expect from local government.

“The 2025 budget supports each of the 61 municipalities for more effective work in our communities and higher-quality services for all Albanian citizens,” he said.
