TIRANA, Nov 4 /ATA/ Minister of Finance Petrit Malaj stated that the “draft budget for 2025 pays special attention to financing of the European Union’s Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, as an important instrument for accelerating our country’s economic and social convergence with EU member states.”

During the presentation of the 2025 draft budget in the Parliamentary Committee for Legal Affairs, Public Administration, and Human Rights, the minister informed that positive macroeconomic indicators support the upward trend of the economy at a rate of 3.9% for 2025 and a reduction of the debt to 55.8% of GDP.

Regarding the 2025 draft budget for the justice sector, he stated that expenditures have seen a significant increase since the launch of the justice reform in 2016.

“The 2025 draft budget allocates around 27 billion lek for this sector, which is about 14.3 billion lek more than in 2016 and 800 million lek more compared to 2024. These figures reflect financial support for the establishment and functioning of the new reform institutions, including the Vetting institutions, the Special Structure against Corruption and Organized Crime, the High Council of Justice, the reform of the prosecution system and the judiciary, the High Inspectorate of Justice, the School of Magistrates, the reform of other institutions under the Ministry of Justice, concluding with financial support for technology systems in the justice system and the approval of the new judicial map,” said Malaj.
