TIRANA, Nov 9 /ATA/ The vice head of the Democratic Party, Kreshnik Çollaku, stated on Thursday that the draft budget for 2024 does not provide any significant financial support for poor families.

In a media statement, he said that, “during 2023, we have seen the government boast about subsidizing the electricity bills for the people in need, but the 2024 draft budget does not earmark any additional financial support for the poor families to cover at least electricity bills.”

Çollaku emphasized that there are about 900,000 Albanians, pensioners and families in need, who are struggling or are unable to pay the electricity bill.

He underlined that, “on the one hand we see an increase in prices and in the cost of living in 2024, according to the projected inflation, and on the other no additional money for needy families and pensioners is allocated to at least cover the electricity bill”.
