From Kumanovo in North Macedonia, the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Bilbil Bitri, explains that, “SEEBRIG, in its military component, was created to increase the level of military cooperation and to strengthen good neighborly relations between the participating countries.”

This initiative consists of 6 countries: Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, North Macedonia, Romania and Turkey.
This is the second time that at the helm of SEEBRIG is a commander from the ranks of the Armed Forces of Albania.
The Commander of the SEEBRIG Brigade, Brigadier General Bilbil Bitri adds that, “besides the obligation, it is an opportunity to show what Albania has exceled at since the fall of the Berlin Wall, the spirit of regional cooperation, the spirit of a stability and peace factor and the will to contribute to such initiatives that strengthen not only cooperation, but create the ground for a peaceful development of the region.”

According to Brigadier General Bilbil Bitri, it is a fantastic coincidence that on the 15th anniversary of NATO membership Albania is a direct contributor to NATO, but also through the regional initiative to peace and security in the region and beyond.
Albania will lead the Southeast European Defense Ministers’ Initiative for a three-year term.
