TIRANA, January 19 /ATA/ Minister of Culture Elva Margariti stated today that together with the Polytechnic University of Tirana work has begun on drafting an integrated management plan for the historical ensemble of the Palace of Brigades.

In a public consultation for the drafting of the Integrated Management Plan of the Palace of Brigades, Margariti said that, “The whole ensemble must be a space that needs to be better known and therefore, we definitely need to have a complete and well-thought-out vision with the cooperation of as many experts as possible”.

“It has been a constant, persistent request of the prime minister to make it possible that not only this palace but the whole ensemble to be transformed into a way worthy of the whole community “, stressed Margariti.

According to Margariti, “This building and its gardens cannot be treated as a separate island, the whole historical ensemble should not fall into the trap of an institutional treatment”.

Margariti said that, “Our goal is that this historical, economic and cultural potential that encompasses this ensemble should be harmonized with all government investments”.

We, added Margariti, have seen this area as a large development pole with dormant potentials, which has not yet managed to reveal all its potentials.

“After drafting the integrated management plan of Butrint, which has been one of the challenges that the Ministry of Culture has undertaken in these years, we definitely have an added experience for what the law of heritage makes available to us, for what dormant potentials of our heritage can bring for the communities and for the entire Albanian territory “, said Margariti.

The Palace of Brigades is an extraordinary site of cultural heritage in the city of Tirana, the fruit of the magnificent architecture of 1930-40. /k.s/j.p/p.s./
