TIRANA, June  6 /ATA/ The Kurçaj Bridge in Fushë Krujë, a Category I Monument of Culture, has been restored as part of the EU4Culture program, financed by the European Union and implemented by UNOPS in partnership with the Ministry of Culture.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Edi Rama shared on social media images of the Kurçaj Bridge, a tourist destination that, according to him, is not to be missed.

“Kurçaj Bridge in Fushë Krujë, this treasure of cultural heritage in the middle of a wonderful landscape, built centuries ago, now revitalized, is a tourist destination that is worth a visit,” said Rama.

The Kurçaj Bridge is located near the village of Kurçaj, east of Kruja. The bridge built in c. XVIII rises above the river Zeza. It served to connect Kruja with the Field of Tirana. The bridge contains a large vault and two side discharge windows.

The Kurçaj Bridge represents an excellent example of historic regional architecture and engineering breakthroughs, it has the potential to be an integral part of revitalized local and regional walking trails and part of the “linked heritage” approach to sustainable regional tourism.
