TIRANA, Jan 15 /ATA/ The Engineering Corps of the Armed Forces has repaired the Xhyra Bridge in Librazh, restoring normal traffic flow for approximately 2,000 residents in the area.
During an inspection of the bridge, which was recommissioned and opened to traffic following damage caused by heavy rainfall, Minister of Defense Pirro Vengu announced that the work was completed in record time.”

Vengu emphasized that all emergency structures, the Armed Forces, and municipalities are actively involved in the rehabilitation of areas damaged by landslides, as well as the restoration of critical infrastructure that connects these areas.
He emphasized that the Xhyra area holds significant importance for tourism. ‘This region offers guesthouses, wine, local cuisine, and is an attractive destination for tourism,’ Vengu stated.”
The Minister reported that ongoing restoration works are being carried out concurrently across multiple regions, including Selenicë in Vlorë, Gjirokastër, and Delvinë. Meanwhile, infrastructure rehabilitation has been completed in Laç and Shkodër. Remaining works include the restoration of two bridges in the Baldushk area of Tirana, as well as in Elbasan and Librazhd, among other locations.

Vengu also reminded that in the 2026 budget, the Ministry of Defense has launched a call for preventive infrastructure projects, which includes not only ‘bailey’ bridges but also classical reinforced concrete bridges, as part of critical infrastructure built to withstand adverse weather conditions.
In recent days, our country has been affected by heavy rainfall and snowfall, which caused disruptions in traffic, as well as landslides on several roadways, blocking or restricting vehicle movement.
