Prime Minister Edi Rama posted on social media on Wednesday updates showing the daily progress of the bridge’s construction implemented up to the standards.

“Construction of the new Bahçallëk Bridge at Shkodra’s entrance is ongoing. This key project will ease traffic for vehicles traveling toward Tirana, while the existing bridge will remain open for traffic heading toward Shkodra,” Rama wrote.

Inaugurated on February 4, 1914, the Bahçallëk Bridge connects the city of Shkodra with its surrounding areas, stretching across the Drin and Kir rivers to the Buna.

At the same time, the bridge enables the city’s connection with the rest of the country, serving as a key communication artery for one of Albania’s most important historical, economic, and cultural hubs.

The Bahçallëk Bridge was built in 1914 by an Austrian designer, and its structure has endured to the present day.
