The concept of the new Velipoja-Ulcinj bridge project was rolled out during the “Open Balkan” summit, which was held on Wednesday in Ohrid, in the presence of the two prime ministers, that of Albania, Edi Rama and Montenegro, Dritan Abazovic.

“This project is important, not only because of the 73 kilometers that will be transformed in a 1 km road between the two countries, but also because this area, from the beginning of the coast in Ulcinj to the end of Velipoja, can become a tourist attraction in the future. Everyone hopes that we will propel that area into development . This will greatly facilitate the access of tourists,” Abazovic said.

Prime Minister Abazovic also pointed out that this is the way we will be able to ease the traffic congestion near Shkodra, at the border point, given that part of the trucks will cross this bridge.

Prime Minister of Montenegro stressed that the construction of the bridge will have a positive impact on both sides.

“The interconnection between the two countries will be much greater. The bridge symbolically proves that we are not only an Open Balkan, but also at a new phase of the way we perceive bilateral and regional relations, because this is not only a bridge for the citizens of Albania and Montenegro, it will be used by many people who will visit our countries. I think this is the perfect idea. ”
Abazovic stressed that the memorandum will be signed once the detailed project is completed in September.
