This decision comes in follow-up to extensive preparations for the airport’s launch and builds on the first certification flight carried out on May 8, 2025—a significant milestone that confirmed its readiness to host international air carriers.

Vlora Airport, considered one of Albania’s most strategic projects for boosting economic growth and tourism, is set to serve as a major gateway into the country, especially for the southern region.

With its ideal location, less than an hour from the most popular tourist destinations and coastal cities, it aims to attract thousands of visitors each year and stimulate foreign direct investment.

The opening of the border crossing point is expected to transform southern Albania into a true hub of Mediterranean tourism.
