Bank of Albania data shows this reopens the June auction, which saw yields rise. The uniform yield and coupon rate climbed to 6.22% from April’s 5.75%, marking the highest level for 15-year bonds since November 2024.

he latest auction missed its 2 billion lekë target after investor demand slowed, drawing only 1.41 billion lekë in total bids.

Long-term bonds are one of the instruments used by the Ministry of Finance to finance the needs of the state budget and manage public debt. The yield indicator reflects the cost at which the government secures financing from the financial market. /e.xh/a.f/p.s./

TIRANA, June 3/ATA/ Under the chair of MP Klotilda Bushka, the Parliamentary Committee for Legal Affairs, Public Administration and Human Rights reviewed at today’s meeting the law “On the issuance and distribution of privatization bonds” dated 1995, as initiated by MP Antoneta Dhima.

During presentation of the amendment to the law, Dhima explained that the initiative is about the proposal to extend the deadline validity of the privatization bonds until December 31, 2027.

Dhima stated that the initiative aims to provide a final solution to cases when the Albanian state has an obligation to return privatization bonds pursuant to a court decision. The amendment will also make it easy the privatization process for the former owners of the land, the entities that have a lease or lease contract and it will be useful in context of legalization of informal constructions through the State Cadastre Agency.

Dhima clarified that the initiative has been sent for consideration to the government and the relevant government ministries, which have expressed their agreement with the proposal made to postpone the deadline for the use of privatization bonds.

The privatization bonds have been used since 1995 for the privatization of state enterprises and the legalization of housing.

The Committee approved the privatization bonds deadline validity be extended up to December 31, 2027./r.e/p.s./

TIRANA, Jan 28 /ATA/ Foreign exchange reserves will be invested in new financial instruments, in order to diversify and expand it.

In the Medium Term Development Strategy 2021-2023, the Bank of Albania states that “it intends to expand the instruments, whereby foreign exchange reserves are invested in inflation-linked bonds or forward contracts.”

This would serve not only to cover the emergency needs that the Albanian economy may have for foreign currency, but also to ensure higher returns from this reserve.

The country’s foreign exchange reserve reached 3.87 billion euros, with an annual increase of 17.2%, the Bank of Albania announces.

According to the BoA, the trend of investment in new foreign exchange reserve instruments follows the experience of counterpart institutions and second-level banks in the EU.
