The Minister of Finance and Economy, Delina Ibrahimaj, at a joint press conference with Prime Minister Edi Rama, invited the citizens to invest in treasury bills and bonds, instruments which are secure and risk free investments.

“At a time of economic challenges like these, you can all give value to your investment and diversify your portfolio, to ensure more income”, said the minister.

The Ministry of Finance and Economy regularly issues government bonds in the market through auctions.
Government securities carry lower risk compared to other investments and help diversify the investment portfolio. They have higher returns compared to second-tier bank deposit rates for the same maturity and are immediately tradable in the secondary market.

The banking system holds the largest share of government securities, approximately 63%, while individuals hold approximately 10% of the total.

Annual rates currently range from 2.78% for 3-month treasury bills, while for bonds it goes up to 8.39%. Experts say that the trend is increasing.
