TIRANA, Jan 22 /ATA/ Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, in a televised interview on Thursday evening, following the signing of the Board of Peace in Davos—where she signed alongside Trump and representatives of other countries, described the moment as historic for Kosovo, noting that the U.S. did not request any financial contribution from Kosovo as a member.

President Vjosa Osmani, in an interview with Top Channel, emphasized that today’s developments offer Kosovo a significant opportunity to strengthen its position in the international arena.

“We received the invitation on January 20, and upon being invited to join as a founding member of the Peace Board, we were also extended an invitation to Davos for the signing. Following the invitation from President Trump to be among the signatories under U.S. leadership, we travelled to Davos and will return after midnight. This marks a day of historic significance; for us as a state, membership in any international organization carries considerable importance. It enhances our international standing and provides an opportunity for Kosovo to be recognized as equal among free nations, ensuring that the country’s potential is not constrained,” stated Osmani.

Osmani emphasized that neither the Peace Board Charter nor communications with the White House have requested any financial contribution.

“The Peace Board Charter is very clear. The functioning of the organization will depend on voluntary contributions. Our discussions have focused primarily on offering our own contribution. Kosovo is an exemplary case of peacebuilding and democratic development. Having emerged as a post-conflict state and built our institutions from the ground up, we are in a position to make a significant and meaningful contribution,” Osmani stated.

Osmani also expressed her satisfaction that Kosovo will stand side by side with Albania under the leadership of the United States, highlighting the significance of this moment for enhancing the representation of the Albanian nation within such an organization.

“For us, it is particularly important that Albania is also invited, allowing us to stand together alongside the United States. This enables us to cooperate and further strengthen the presence and influence of the Albanian nation within such an organization,” Osmani stated.

In the interview, Osmani noted that Prime Minister Rama was among the first to receive a personal invitation from U.S. President Donald Trump, although she is unaware of the specific reason for his absence at the Davos ceremony.

“I am aware that Prime Minister Rama was invited, as he was among the first invitees in his capacity as a founding state. I would like to thank him for the cooperation we have had during this period,” stated the President of Kosovo.
