At its second meeting, held pursuant to the Council of Ministers’ decision declaring a special situation in the hydrocarbons market, the Board set the wholesale price of SSH EN 590-standard diesel at no more than ALL 198 per litre.

Meanwhile, the maximum wholesale price for SSH EN-standard petrol has been set at ALL 178 per litre.

The new prices take effect today, 7 October, at 11.30am and will remain in force until the Board’s next meeting, when market developments will be assessed and new retail prices set.

The Board warned wholesale and retail fuel operators that they are required to comply with the decision. Operators found to be in breach could face suspension of their activities.

The decision was adopted under the legal framework governing the processing, transportation and trading of oil, gas and their by-products, as well as the Normative Act amending the excise duty law.

The Ministry of Economy and Innovation, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy are committed to protecting consumers’ interests and ensuring fair competition in the market.

According to the Board, these prices reflect the changes in international markets.

The Transparency Board set up by a government decision, with the aim of putting the brakes on increase of wholesale / retail prices, based on the methodology of price fixing according to Article 21/5 of the Normative Act, decided to approve the cap wholesale price from 05.04.2022 to 12.04.2022, as follows: 221 ALL / liter for diesel; 197 lek / liter for gasoline.

The Board also approved the cap retail price for the dates 05.04.2022 to 12.04.2022, as follows: 233 ALL / liter for diesel, 209 ALL / liter for gasoline and 115 ALL / liter for natural gas liquid. (The selling price for vehicle liquefied petroleum gas will be the supply price at gas stations, while at other points for household and industrial customers the price should not include excise).

The decision of the Board enters into force on April 5 and will be applicable until the next meeting of the board, in order to reflect in the retail price of these by-products, possible price changes in international markets.
