According to the Bank of Albania’s announcement, the meeting focused on the need for technical assistance within the framework of significant institutional reforms and alignment with the requirements of the European Union.
The announcement emphasized that significant attention was given to the Bank of Albania’s work on developing a new Central Bank law in compliance with the EU acquis pertaining to central banking.
The announcement states that the European integration process provides an indispensable roadmap for the structural reform agenda, while the prospect of EU membership presents a historic opportunity to boost foreign direct investment.
The meeting was held as part of the 2025 Annual Meetings of the IMF and World Bank in Washington, DC, with the Bank of Albania represented by a delegation headed by Governor Gent Sejko.
