PRISHTINA, August 28/ATA/ The Albanian political parties of the Presheva Valley have expressed their support for the candidacy of Faton Bislimi as President of the Republic of Kosovo.

Through a joint statement, Chairman of the Party for Democratic Action (PVD) Shaip Kamberi, Chairman of the Albanian Democratic Party (PDSH) Ragmi Mustafa and Chairman of the Democratic Party (PD) Nagip Arifi emphasize that they consider Mr. Bislimi a figure with a supra-partisan, independent and unifying profile, particularly suitable for the current political circumstances in Kosovo.

“One of the main reasons for our support is his extraordinary and continuous contribution to the cause of the Albanians of the Presheva Valley in the United States of America,” they state.

Also, the leaders of the Albanian political parties in Presheva underline that, “For more than two decades, Bislimi has used his relations and credibility in Washington to keep the issue of the Valley in the attention of American policymakers, particularly in the United States Congress and Senate.” /p.s./

PRISTINA, April 25 /ATA/ – Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi said in a statement after a meeting on Thursday that Serbia sees the Association of Serbian Municipalities as a mechanism to legitimize and strengthen Belgrade-run structures in Kosovo.

Bislimi, Prime Minister Albin Kurti’s person in charge of the EU-facilitated dialogue, said that today’s meeting focused on the ideas tabled by the EU Special Representative for the Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue and other Western Balkan regional issues, Miroslav Lajčák, two weeks ago.

According to him, Serbia sees the Association as a mechanism to legitimize the illegal Serbian structures.

“For the first time, we have seen openly documented by Serbia how they see the Association creation process, since the international community and Kosovo see the Association as a mechanism that helps Serb-dominated municipalities to coordinate exercising some of their actions. Serbia demonstrated today it sees the Association as a mechanism to legitimize its illegal structures in Kosovo,” Bislimi said.

According to him, Lajčák’s proposal is constructive and more detailed that last week’s proposal and clarifies some of the complaints voiced earlier by Kosovo.

PRISTINA, April 4 /ATA/ – Kosovo’s first Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Development and Dialogue, Besnik Bislimi, affirmed after a meeting of chief negotiators in Brussels on Thursday that Kosovo has agreed on a proposal forwarded by the European Union on the use of the Serbian dinar in the country, welcoming it as a constructive proposal.

Meanwhile – according to him – Serbia has asked for more time to consider the EU plan.

A press statement said that this was the third meeting at the chief negotiators level in a bid to find a solution regarding Serbia’s financial support for Kosovo’s Serbian community.

“Our solution proposals were based on the Central Bank regulation and the legislation of the Republic of Kosovo. The EU proposal is also seen as a constructive one. This time, too, the Serbian side refused to cooperate and set the citizens’ interest as a top priority, insisting on licensing an illegal entity ‘Postanska Banka’. After the EU proposal, the Serbian side was not ready to reflect on it and has asked for more time instead. The next round of meeting is set to take place in two weeks’ time,” the statement read.
