TIRANA, Nov 4 /ATA/ – No cases of human infections have been recorded in the current H5N1 avian outbreak in Albania, the head of the Epidemiology Department at the Public Health Institute, Silvana Bino, said in a press statement on Monday.

Bino underlined the Public Health Institute experts are monitoring the farmers and individuals who work in operations with poultry.

“Individuals working in operations with poultry are definitely the ones most at risk from the bird flu outbreak. This is the reason why the Public Health Institute and its experts are checking and testing any potential respiratory syndrome. Samples have been taken and tested and no human infections have been detected,” Bino stated.

She underlined that the risk of human catching bird flu is low, adding that culling the infected birds is the solution to prevent any potential human infections.

Bino also said that the bird flu A5H1 is n through eating fully cooked poultry and eggs.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development also announced that the bird flu situation is fully under control by a chain of institutions that are working on early detection and prevention of the spread of H5N1 virus.

TIRANA, December 1 /ATA/ Health Minister Ogerta Manastirliu shared in the social media today the appeal for vaccination of the citizens who are facing the consequences of COVID-19 at the Infectious Diseases Hospital.

Manastirliu emphasized, “Please, listen to the appeal for vaccination from the citizens who are facing the consequences of COVID-19 in the Infectious Diseases Hospital, at a time when the risk from the new Omicron variant is a concern for all countries and vaccination is the only way to protect and curb the spread of the pandemic.”

“Everyone in my family is vaccinated except me because it was my choice. And this wrong choice led me to where I am. I want to say that all young people without exception should be vaccinated,” said a young man.

“If I got the vaccine, I would have been at home with the children,” said another.

Vaccination against COVID-19 continues throughout the country in medical centres every day of the week, for every citizen over 16 years old and for children 12-15 years old, according to the doctor’s recommendation.

TIRANA, August 13 /ATA/ In Albania, the vast majority of cases with COVID-19 belongs to young people and the category over 70 years old who are not vaccinated.

In an interview with VOA, the head of the Infectious Diseases Control department Silva Bino said that the increase in cases, especially in the last two weeks, is worrying.

While calling for the implementation of anti-Covid rules by both the population and institutions, Bino said that according to her, mandatory mechanisms should be applied for the vaccine.

In the last 24 hours, there were confirmed 379 new cases and 1 loss of life.

The data so far show a higher number than the total of the people affected in the previous three months, May-June and July, taken together.

The health authorities are of the opinion that the reason is the heavy circulation of the ‘Delta’ variant.

The “Delta” variant was confirmed in Albania in the second half of July from samples that had been collected since June./j.p/r.e/p.s./
