TIRANA, July 29 /ATA/ Minister for Protection of Entrepreneurship Edona Bilali wrote in the social media that no US or European company has raised any concerns about the business climate in our country.

She reacted in this way to the statements of the head of the American Chamber of Commerce Enio Jaço, who said that the business climate in our country is unfriendly. Bilali emphasized that this last statement is contradictory to Jaço’s previous statements.

“4 days ago Head of AmCham expressed his satisfaction that American investments in the country have tripled. 3 days later, after the publication of the report of the Department of Trade (not updated for 2 years), retrieved by the State Department with some changes, he stated that the problem is the unfriendly business climate. The question that immediately comes to mind is, how does the Albanian chairman of AmCham (normally, he should contribute to the objective reading of the current situation on the ground) explain the fact that the Americans invested 3 times more in Albania for the last 4 years, while a series of other large American investments are in the process of preparation?!”, wrote Bilali.

“No one denies the problems, but since I have been in this position, I have neither encountered nor heard of any American or European company, which the business climate in Albania prevented from investing! On the contrary, I have only had very positive reactions from them about the hospitality and treatment in Albania. I have heard the same from my colleagues! What a shame when our fellow citizens, even more so in such functions, have a negative influence, without any facts or figures, in the feeding of perceptions that have been distorted for years, either in the public opinion, or in friends and foreign partners!”, wrote Bilali.

“But thankfully, in the end, the facts and the work remain; tourism Albania has impressive data!”, she concluded. /p.s./

TIRANA, April 13/ATA/ Minister of State for the Protection of Entrepreneurship Edona Bilali stated today that the construction of the Buna Bridge that connects Ulqin with Velipoja will not only serve to reduce the travel distance between the two countries, Albania and Montenegro, but will be a very good opportunity to use the natural potentials found nearby.

“Statistics show that during the tourist season about 360 thousand tourists visit Velipoja and about 170 thousand Ulqin. About 34 km of sandy beaches are connected indirectly today, through the border crossing point of Murriqani, with a distance of 73 km or 1.5 hours, meanwhile, the distance that can be covered by tourists and visitors, as well as the communities of the two areas with the construction of the bridge is only 300 m or 5 min. Improving mobility and access along the Adriatic coastline not only creates a synergy between the two states, but will also enable the assessment of common cross-border natural tourism assets in the Buna River estuary area and the promotion of sustainable tourism development” , Bilali said.

A joint statement was signed between the Albanian and Montenegrin governments on October 3, 2018, which aims to support joint efforts to improve access to the cross-border area of Pulaj, Velipojë, Albania and Saint Nicholas, Ulqin, Montenegro , followed by the presentation at the “Open Balkan” forum in Ohrid, in 2022.

The cross-border area at the mouth of the Buna River represents a great potential for regional economic development and sustainable tourism development, but which still remain untapped and unconnected to each other.

Referring to a preliminary study by the Albanian Development Fund, Bilali said that the cost of building the bridge is estimated at 1.5 billion ALL./gj.m/p.s./

TIRANA, March 17/ATA/ The government approved today the amendment of the law on support and development of startups.

Minister of State for Enterprise Protection Edona Bilali listed during a briefing for reporters after the government meeting some of the main changes of this law.

“The main changes in this law are made mainly for including a concept according to which the digital nomads, who according to the law are known as mobile digital employees, or in other words employees who use technology not to work from a fixed place, but move all over the world and work for the third parties”, said the minister.

Bilali emphasized that, “Other countries of the world have supported this initiative according to the international index “Work from everywhere”, where in 2021 Albania was ranked the 15th in the world for the potential it has to absorb this target group”.

She said that there are currently 100 nomads operating in Albania and through legal regulation, they will no longer be considered tax residents and will have the right to work from Albania for the whole world for up to one year. /gj.m/p.s./
