Prime Minister Edi Rama on Tuesday shared images of tourists exploring Shkodra by bicycle, describing cycling as the “ideal companion” for discovering the city and its cultural and historical attractions.

In Shkodra, bicycles are more than a means of transport; they are part of the city’s way of life and an integral part of the identity of its residents.

A long-established cycling culture, combined with terrain well suited to two-wheel travel, is helping position Shkodra as a destination for cycling tourism.

The city offers visitors a wide range of attractions, including Rozafa Castle, the Shkodra Historical Museum, the Marubi National Museum of Photography and Lake Shkodra, as well as the lakeside areas of Shiroka and Zogaj.

Beyond the city, visitors can explore mountain destinations such as Theth, one of the jewels of the Albanian Alps.

At the opening event of this exhibition near the “Reja” installation, there were present members of the cycling community, citizens and numerous bicycle enthusiasts.

The archival materials on display was a look at the history of the bicycle, which over the years has become a very popular means of transportation. Among other things, this photographic narrative proves that cycling in Albania was first embraced by the city of Shkodra and later it received the approval of the entire country.

The exhibition will remain open until May 15. This event had the support of the Municipality of Tirana, the Parks and Recreation Agency, the Marubi Photo Library/Museum, the Ministry of Economy, Culture and Innovation as well as a group of independent collectors. /j.p/p.s./

Prime Minister Edi Rama wrote in the social media that the new bicycle riding school in the capital for children of all age-groups is near completion.

Rama published photos from this new place, designed with great care and thanks to the investment one can find all the necessary elements of road signs that serve not only to teach children with the rules of traffic, but also offer a lot of relaxation and fun.

The Road Safety Educational Corner for children will serve for road education, familiarization with road signs, awareness of road risks, practice of responsible behavior and safe choices while in road situations for yourself and others.

In order to increase awareness and education on road safety, the General Directorate of Road Transport Services – Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, continues concrete projects and initiatives for the education of children with the main aim of encouraging the learning of the rules and traffic signs through the game. The learning process based on concrete models of behavior in traffic and accompanied by numerous examples in practice increases the effectiveness of road education for children, to understand the situations on the road as clearly as possible.

The children, as riders or pedestrians, but also as future drivers, should be familiar with the rules and risks of using the road, with basic signs and the importance of taking care of yourself and others. Urban mobility, but also the knowledge about traffic, movement, rights and obligations, are best taught in childhood, when the primary role is the example in the family, school, as well as educational and didactic activities, as reflected by the national project of the General Directory of Road Transport Services “Road Safety” in cooperation with municipalities, police, schools and communities. /p.s./
