TIRANA, Nov 29 /ATA/ The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, engaged in a dialogue with citizens today through social media. In his remarks, he announced that the party’s outdoor assemblies are set to commence all over the country this week.

“This week we are starting the outdoor assemblies outside Tirana and will continue them across the country,” Berisha said.

He also emphasized that “the narco-state and drugs represent the fiercest enemies we have ever faced in history.”

He stated that “over a ten-year period, approximately 45% of the population has left Albania. According to the UN, our birth rate is the same as it was 100 years ago, making it the lowest in the world. Since 2018, deaths have significantly outnumbered births in the country.”

According to Berisha, at this pace “we are moving steadily towards our own national extinction, towards the depopulation of this country.”

Berisha also addressed the government’s appeal to the Constitutional Court regarding the decision of the Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime to suspend the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, from her duties.

For the first time in the history of Europe and other free countries, a prime minister is suing the court that suspended a corrupt deputy prime minister, taking the case to the Constitutional Court. Typically in Europe, suspensions are uncommon because, once an accusation is made, the accused steps down and allows the justice system to investigate the matter. In Albania, however, not only does the official refuse to step down, but they also receive the prime minister’s backing to challenge the suspension in the Constitutional Court,” Berisha said.

Berisha also addressed the congratulatory message from U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Albania’s Independence Day.

“I believe that the messages from Secretary Rubio and President Trump touch on the most pressing issue our country faces today—drugs, crime, and the fight against them. They serve as encouragement in our critical effort to protect Albanians from a regime built on drug trafficking and criminal activity,” Berisha said.
