TIRANA, Aug 4 /ATA/ The Democratic Party Chairman Sali Berisha stated on Monday that international observers from OSCE-ODIHR came under pressure to modify their preliminary report on the May 11 parliamentary elections.

At a media briefing from Democratic Party headquarters, Berisha disclosed a letter dated May 12, which he alleges was authored by Foreign Minister Igli Hasani and sent to international observers in an effort to pressure them into revising their report.
Berisha claimed he is in possession of a threatening letter, allegedly sent by Foreign Minister Igli Hasani on May 12, to key international election observers, shortly after the preliminary report was released.

According to Berisha, the Foreign Minister states in his letter that “administration resources were not used.”
Berisha further stated that Hasani openly misled the international community by fabricating arrests allegedly made by SPAK.

Berisha stated, “No arrests have actually been made, despite hundreds of pieces of evidence being presented here almost daily. Therefore, he is deceiving the international community by claiming arrests have occurred. He asserts that some arrests have been made, supposedly to show the dedication of Albanian institutions in safeguarding election integrity and ensuring accountability.”

Berisha expressed his trust in the integrity of the international missions, saying that “they can never be swayed,” and added that he would disclose additional evidence exposing the May 11 electoral fraud.”
