TIRANA, Oct 5 /ATA/ Democratic Party chairman Sali Berisha, speaking in Parliament, accused the legislature of serving what he called a “narco-state”.

He said Parliament had become an institution that “erodes the vital interests of Albanian citizens”.

“This Parliament does not deserve to remain in session for another hour, let alone another day. It has become a disgraceful servant of the narco-state and a blatant violator of the most vital interests of Albanian citizens. It has been reduced to an institution of shame, blindly serving the narco-regime, the first and only narco-state in Europe, and Albania’s padrino.”

“For every Albanian citizen, for every Albanian patriot, regardless of their political beliefs, the most fundamental issue is how the security pyramid they rely on has been fully exposed as a pyramid of the narco-state, crime and drug cartels,” he said.

At the end of his speech, the DP leader called for citizens to mobilise on Thursday.

“Thursday is the day of the citizens, the day of Albanians and young people. I call on Albanians, wherever they are, to gather before this Parliament on Thursday,” Berisha said.

He concluded his appeal by calling on citizens to give this institution “the most fitting response”, saying it had been turned into an institution of “crime, drugs and the Albanian mafia”.
