In his speech, the Chairman of the DP said that today, Kavaja also pays tribute to March 26, 1990, when its citizens stood up against the dictatorship, marking the first uprising against communism.

“It is with profound respect that I bow before you, the citizens of Kavaja, the residents of this city and district, on this sacred night of Laylat al-Qadr, the night of decree. From the bottom of my heart, I wish each of you well and pray to the Almighty God to accept your fasting and sacrifices, and to grant us all a bright future for all the citizens of Kavaja. However, tonight, we also commemorate another important night, a night when we honor together the epic bravery of the men and women of this city, who, in an unprecedented battle in history up until that point, confronted a ruthless dictatorship. In truth, they shook its very foundations, and from that day forward, Kavaja became a free city,” he said.
Berisha acknowledged that while Kavaja was in a pivotal position, the dictatorship knew it had lost. He praised the heroism and bravery of the men and youth of Kavajë, particularly the anti-communist groups, who became a symbol of the Albanian struggle for freedom and dignity. He concluded by honoring the freedom-loving citizens of the city.
To conclude, Berisha stated, “There is an inseparable bond between the unwavering faith in God and the highest virtues of your spirit. There is no greater force for a person than their faith in God and their service to Him. Therefore, once again, I wish you all a blessed night,” Berisha added.

The DP chairman concluded his speech by expressing his gratitude for the bravery and heroism of March 26, with the hope that the next Laylat al-Qadr will be celebrated by Democrats in an entirely different context.
