TIRANA, Oct 6 /ATA/ The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, appeared today before the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Anti-Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK), in compliance with the precautionary measure of “Obligation to Appear” imposed by the Court of Appeal for Anti-Corruption and Organized Crime (GJKKO).

Berisha appeared at SPAK at approximately 10:00 a.m. and, while speaking to the media outside the Special Prosecutor’s Office, accused SPAK Chief Prosecutor Altin Dumani of being “controlled by criminal money, which he has allegedly laundered and converted into personal assets that remain unjustified.”
Berisha also leveled accusations against GJKKO judge Irena Gjoka, who is handling the case in which he is a defendant.
He claimed to have submitted documents revealing what he described as the true identity of “Irena with five surnames,” and alleged that SPAK Chief Prosecutor Altin Dumani, in an attempt to shield her, had initiated a criminal case without a named subject. The Democratic Party leader further stated that he is in possession of a certificate dated November 24, 2002, issued by the Greek police, confirming that Irena Gjoka was expelled from Greece on charges of visa forgery.

“This is the judge presiding over the case of the former president, former prime minister, and former speaker of parliament,” Berisha stated.

Today, Berisha also released another document which, according to him, proves that Irena Gjoka “concealed her expulsion from Greece in her vetting documentation.”

The Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime (GJKKO) has referred for trial the case involving the former “Partizani” sports complex, in which former Prime Minister Sali Berisha faces charges of “Passive Corruption of Top State Officials or Locally Elected Representatives.”
