TIRANA, Oct 20 /ATA/ The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, reported on Monday to the Special Anti-Corruption and Organized Crime Prosecutor’s Office (SPAK) in compliance with the “Mandatory Appearance” security measure imposed on him by the Appellate of the Court against Corruption and Organized Crime.

Berisha arrived at SPAK at around 10:00 AM, and outside the premises of the Special Prosecutor’s Office, during a media statement, he accused the judge of the anti-corruption court, Irena Gjoka, who is the preliminary judge in the case against him. According to Berisha, Gjoka is being protected by the chief prosecutor of SPAK, Altin Dumani.
Berisha stated that Gjoka continues to perform her duties in blatant violation of the Constitution and the laws of the country because, according to him, she has not declared her conviction in Greece.

Berisha claims that under the decriminalization law, judges must disclose all convictions, even if not final, and failure to do so results in immediate dismissal. He accuses Judge Irena Gjoka of concealing a final conviction and other legal issues, while being unlawfully protected by Altin Troplini.
Berisha added that “Irena Gjoka should not have been a magistrate, at least since the decriminalization law came into effect.”

According to Berisha, the chief prosecutor of SPAK “becomes an accomplice in a disgraceful crime where the Constitution and the country’s laws have been violated.”
The leader of the Democratic Party stressed that “any decision delivered by Irena Gjoka, starting from the day she provided false information in the decriminalization forms, should be
considered null and void.”
The Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime (GJKKO) has referred the case concerning the former “Partizani” sports complex to trial, where former Prime Minister Sali Berisha faces charges of “passive corruption involving high-ranking state officials or local elected representatives.”
