The two Belgian visitors were located and lifted out of the canyon and brought to safety after being stranded for several hours in a very rugged and dangerous terrain.

Local police in the southern town of Himare said that information was received suggesting that two Belgian tourists had been trapped while exploring the Canyon of Gjipe because of the difficult and dangerous terrain.

Local police and firefighters headed immediately to the area and localized and brought the two tourists to safety.

Police in Vlora and other coastal areas in the country’s south are committed to ensuring safety of visitors throughout the year.
