The political relations between the two countries, the process of European integration of the Western Balkans, the intensification of economic relations, the growth of trade volume, as well as the building of infrastructure in support of this process, were the main topics under discussion at this meeting.
President Begaj thanked Bulgaria for supporting Albania on the pathway to EU integration, for joint multilateral initiatives, for the contribution of military troops to KFOR, and also emphasized the importance of bringing economic relations to the level of political ones.

President Begaj and Parliament Speaker Zhelyazkov focused on the development opportunities that land and air infrastructure will bring at this point. “The acceleration of the construction of the eighth corridor, as well as the launch of flight route Tirana-Sofia at the end of this year will increase trade exchanges and tourism in both countries,”, President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj said.

“We, President Begaj said, consider Corridor 8 to be of strategic importance and we are working very hard to complete it as soon as possible.” The road is development, and this corridor will boost development in our entire region.
