TIRANA, Aug  15 /ATA/ President of the Republic Bajram Begaj, at a joint press conference after the meeting with the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, appreciated Kosovo’s position on continuation of the dialogue with Serbia, as the only way to assert that the reality of independent Kosovo is irreversible and inalienable.

“The formula for pushing the Serbia-Kosovo dialogue spelled out by President Biden, as a ‘comprehensive agreement for the normalization of relations, focused on mutual recognition or the repeated position of German Chancellor Scholz that the recognition of Kosovo’s independence from Serbia is a pre-requisite for Serbia’s EU accession – encourage our efforts in order for the final result to be a legally binding Agreement, which clearly defines mutual recognition, Kosovo’s membership in the UN and the EU, as well as fair treatment of minorities in accordance with the Constitution of Kosovo, ” he said.

Also, Begaj added that “no fabricated report that is intended to stain the blood and self-sacrifice of Albanians in defense of freedom, flag and national identity will belittle this glorious heritage.”

“Ibrahim Rugova was a visionary and fearless leader and founder of Kosovo’s independence. His vision is a source of inspiration for all politicians in Kosovo and Albania. The KLA represents a bright page of our common history, which makes every Albanian proud,” he added.

Begaj said that “Kosovo and Albania not only maintain this indissoluble fraternal and strategic bond, but also have the same vision and aspirations, which are the future in the European Union and in NATO.”

“Integration reforms, for the strengthening and democratization of institutions, the enforcement of the rule of law, the consolidation of the market economy on the one hand and a reliable European perspective for the countries of the Western Balkans on the other remain essential to ensure regional stability, to support well-being and peace in our region,” he added.

Begaj said that “the opening of Albania’s European Union accession negotiations is a long-awaited achievement and good news for all Albanians in Albania, but also for Kosovo and the entire region.”

Also, he emphasized that the liberalization of visas for the citizens of Kosovo is a delayed promise and a right that they should enjoy like all other citizens of the region.
