In a social media statement, President Begaj highlighted that “cooperation at the political and institutional level is essential, and I sincerely hope it will continue in the best interest of Kosovo and its citizens.”

The Kosovo Assembly today elected Dimal Basha, a deputy from the Vetëvendosje (Self-Determination) Movement, as its new Speaker.

In the 58th attempt to constitute the Assembly, the Vetëvendosje nominee was approved with 73 votes in favor, 30 against, and 3 abstentions.

He secured the necessary votes thanks to support from some deputies of PDK, AAK, and a portion of the minorities. LDK and the Serbian List voted against.

Following the Constitutional Court’s ruling to resolve the deadlock, this was the fourth session in which deputies gave their approval for Dimal Basha’s nomination as the new Speaker of the Kosovo Assembly.
