TIRANA, Oct 24 /ATA/ – The main opposition Democratic Party (DP) announced Sunday it would file a complaint with the Constitutional Court on Monday, following parliament’s decision not to allow creation of a parliamentary inquiry committee to look into the arbitration case against businessman Francesco Becchetti.

“It is already known that Albanian citizens will pay 120 million euros to Francesco Becchetti just because of the personal war Edi Rama waged on the entrepreneur. Final ICSID ruling, the international arbitration court founded by the World Bank, has been already made public and it is available to anyone, who has access to the internet,” DP lawmaker Saimir Koreshi said in a press statement.

According to Koreshi, the Arbitration Court notes in its ruling that “the decisions to sequestrate the assets reached the peak of a political campaign against Becchetti.”

“This is the reason why those responsible for the damage of 120 million euros are obstructing the DP’s constitutional right to set up an inquiry committee, claiming that the decision, which is already available on the Internet, is a top secret,” Koreshi added.

The opposition lawmaker announced that the DP parliamentary group will file a complaint with the Constitutional Court and a request to cancel the parliament’s decision.
