At a press conference, Berisha spoke about the February 10 protest adding that the citizens have the strongest motives to join this protest.

According to him, “The citizens have strong motives, since the government has no legitimacy”.

“Also the government has stolen hundreds and billions of euros and it feels no responsibility, but it even blocks justice. These are two major factors that delegitimize any government”, Berisha said.

Berisha also spoke about the request to lift the immunity of Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, who is also Minister of Infrastructure and Energy.

Blerina Kalthi, who lives in the village of Sanxhak near the town of Laç and is the mother of two children, says her ordeal began in 2012 with the loss of her brother, who died at 28 after being diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour.

Years later, in 2021, Kalthi herself was diagnosed with breast cancer that rapidly spread. She underwent 28 rounds of chemotherapy, multiple surgeries and a bone marrow transplant in Turkey, a gruelling process that lasted nearly three years and left her physically and emotionally exhausted.

“I closed myself off, I hated the world, and for months I could barely walk,” she told Albanian Telegraphic Agency (ATA).

Although she remains under medical treatment and monitoring, another blow followed last year when her 68-year-old mother was also diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent surgery.

Amid what she describes as an emotional storm, Kalthi found refuge in creativity. Over the past two years, she discovered a passion for painting and plaster craft, initially as therapy, which gradually became both a livelihood and a source of strength.

“What started as a momentary desire turned into a hidden passion – and later into income that supports my family,” she said.

Through her online page, Art me dashuri (“Art with Love”), Kalthi sells handmade souvenirs and paintings at symbolic prices. Many buyers, she says, support her work not only for its artistic value but also as a gesture of solidarity.

Today, creativity fills her daily life, helping her cope with loss and uncertainty while offering inspiration to others facing hardship.

During a press conference, the reporters asked the Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha if he would resign after the defeat. But, Berisha rejected the idea and said that the one who began the battle for the free vote of Albanians, the battle until victory, will also finish it.

Thus, Berisha turned down his resignation option from the leadership of the largest opposition party in the country.

“The opposition to the electoral process will be parallel to an internal process of the DP to respect the statute that you yourself proposed or will you deal with the internal processes later?” – Berisha was further asked by reporters.

The reports also asked Berisha about the statute of the party, but Berisha replied that, “The battle for the free vote is a battle that prevails above all. Nothing can stop the DP in this battle”, said Berisha. /j.p/r.e/p.s./
