“During these weeks I have had the opportunity to meet many of you across the country and what I have heard does not differ much from what a woman in Saranda, a wife in Elbasan, an entrepreneur in Tirana or Durres, an unemployed woman in Lezha, a teacher in Shkodra or a farmer in Kukës or Elbasan have told me. “We have been abandoned and forgotten, we have been neglected during these eight years,” said Basha.

“The burden of poor governance and failures has fallen on the Albanian mothers and women more than on anyone else. A society which consists of men and women, where half of the society are women who carry double the weight, be it through work when they are employed and then double the work at home to raise their children. When they are unemployed, they suffer twice the challenge, the pain, the uncertainty about their future, so the Albanian woman bears twice the weight and has had less than half of the support needed,” said Basha.

“This means that we are a society that has lost its balance and a society that has lost its balance cannot move forward. Eight years of failures, especially in the economic field, have taken their toll on our wives, mothers. The scourge of unemployment has befallen our mothers who have set their eyes on the airports, ports and bus stations in anticipation to build their future abroad. They grapple with different problems such as inability to provide basic food for their children, or to meet other needs such as education,” Basha said.
