Basha expressed his gratitude and that of the DP for the help and support that the USA has given to Albania and the Albanian nation amid difficult and challenging times, but also today in the functioning of the rule of law, the fight against corruption and the functioning of democracy.

Corruption is one of the main concerns in Albania, which has an impact on the country’s development and free competition. The new justice institutions, and especially SPAK, have launched a fierce battle against corruption with tangible results. According to Basha, the DP supports and encourages them to continue this battle at the highest levels, without giving in to the pressure or political blackmail which, unfortunately, have ratcheted up recently.

Basha also outlined DP initiatives such as the vetting of politicians, which is intended to rid politics from corrupt and crime-related politicians, or empower citizens through the direct election of deputies, as well as creating the opportunity for the Albanian Diaspora to vote.
