At a press conference in reaction to the situation of energy supply presented by Prime Minister Edi Rama, Basha said that “the evil crier made an appearance today to excuse himself before the Albanians for what he is preparing for them any time soon, the next step for increasing the energy prices, while now all prices are skyrocketing, making it impossible for hundreds of thousands of Albanians to buy their essentials. ”

“Indeed, the world is coping with soaring prices, but Albanians have been grappling for 8 years on end with the most expensive energy and fuel prices in the region and Europe. In the countries where the price hike is dictated by international markets, responsible governments come to the aid of their citizens through incentives. ”

“But is it possible with this government in place? Albanians know it very well that such a thing is unlikely to happen. They have seen how in the most difficult moments during these years, this government and this prime minister have abandoned them. The same happened in the aftermath of the earthquake or during the pandemic. Albanians have witnessed how the Reconstruction funds were used to enrich Edi Rama’s partners and these funds were given not to people in need, but to get their vote in return. Albanians have suffered neglect during the pandemic, when the greed of this corrupt minority offered the lowest economic aid in Europe, causing the highest number of fatalities in the continent, poverty and unemployment.”

Basha also proposed a 7 –item plan to get out of the situation.

“Therefore, these priorities are clear and necessary: scrapping Rama tax of 240 ALL per liter of fuel; reduction of VAT from 20% to 6% on food, as we have requested from the first week in Albanian Parliament; Billing with prices and the real amount of consumption the oligarchs who are offered differential treatment at the expense of consumers; Subsidizing the energy price for citizens; Good management and stopping the unbridled, luxurious expenses of OSHEE and KESH, which have become extortionists of Albanian money. Budget reallocation to deal with a crisis that cannot be mitigated with propaganda and speeches. “More money for the needy and restructuring of the current economy, which due to the policies of this government relies on money laundering and the monopolies of the oligarchs,” he said.
