TIRANA, April 21 /ATA/ The Chairman of the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party, Gazment Bardhi, and Member of Parliament Jorida Tabaku, as part of their visit to Italy, held a meeting in the Italian Senate with the Chairwoman of the Parliamentary Group of “Forza Italia” in the Italian Senate, Stefania Craxi.

In a post on social media, Bardhi emphasized that Italy has been and continues to be one of Albania’s strongest allies on its path to European Union integration.

During the meeting, the MPs of the Democratic Party reiterated the party’s position in supporting any process that brings Albania closer to the European Union.

“For us, European integration is not a political slogan, but a process that requires genuine commitment, deep reforms, and sustainable democratic standards,” emphasized Bardhi.

Unfortunately, he said, things are heading in the opposite direction.

“Propaganda is rampant, while democratic standards are at risk. There are evident signs of the infringement of human rights and freedoms, and corruption, widespread across all offices, is not only unaddressed but is also politically shielded by the majority. Such an approach severely harms Albania’s European integration path,” stated Bardhi.

Bardhi underlined that Albania has the potential to do more.

“Albanian citizens deserve more. And it is our duty to make this a reality,” emphasized Bardhi.
