TIRANA, Oct 7 /ATA/ Bank lending has continued to be a stable source of financing for the economy, reflecting the favorable financing terms, the increase in demand and the positive approach of banks to lending.

The Bank of Albania announces that the volume of loans to the private sector increased by 8.4% on average in July and August.

According to the BoA, the credit increase has financed the expansion of investments of Albanian businesses and families, as well as covered their liquidity needs.

Moreover, lending continues to retain two positive features. First, lek-denominated credit continues to show high growth rates, illustrating a good monetary stimulus transmission and increasing the banking system’s resilience to risks. Second, the non-performing loan ratio fell below 7.0% in August, pointing to a satisfactory quality of this portfolio. /j.p/sm/
