Minister Balla, present at the hearing of the Parliamentary Health Commission, which discussed the amendments to the law on “On narcotic drugs and psychotropic medications,” said that the State Police have evidenced the increasing use of this gas, with serious health consequences. Therefore, according to Balla, this substance N2O should also be part of the list of prohibited psychotropic medications.

To make his case, he cited the example of several countries of the European Union, but also the United Kingdom. Balla said that he does not intend to ban the import of this substance, which can be used for health purposes or the production of certain food products, but sale and possession of this gas for recreational use should be barred.

“When I took office as Minister of Interior, the State Police informed me about the use by young people of some psychotropic substances that have not been criminalized yet,” Balla said.
