TIRANA, Oct 24 /ATA/ Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, is visiting Switzerland on an official trip, accompanied by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy team and representatives of the Albanian Railway, to hold a bilateral meeting with the Swiss Federal Minister for Transport, Energy, and the Environment.

In a video message posted on social media, the Deputy Prime Minister highlighted that Albania is actively working to join the European railway corridors, enhancing collaboration with international partners in the rail transport sector.

“It would be excellent to travel by train from Switzerland to Albania, and we plan to make this possible in the future through the European railway corridors that Albania will become part of, just as we are doing with the highways,” Balluku stated.

“We are currently traveling from Zurich to Bern, testing the efficiency and effectiveness of the railway system, while also planning for close future cooperation with the Swiss railway,” she added.

According to her, the cooperation will begin with Albania’s first strategic railway project, the Tirana-Durrës line, which is expected to serve as a model for the further development of rail transport in the country.
