Speaking on Monday at the plenary session, in response to the allegations of the opposition MP Jorida Tabaku, Minister Balluku said that, “Mrs. Tabaku talks about energy in the most difficult year in the field of energy. Today no one denies the soaring price of energy either in the Hungarian market to which we refer, or anywhere in the world, because the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has sent the gas price skyrocketing, and in consequence energy production has a very high cost.”

Balluku went on saying that for the third year in a row Albania is going through a period of dry weather, however, Jorida Tabaku beyond the crisis cannot deny two things that Rama’s government has done.

“First, we kept the price of energy unchanged for household subscribers and small businesses despite the crisis and this was enabled through a subsidy from the government. Secondly, there was no power outage due to the energy crunch, as they promised at the outset of this crisis,” Balluku said.
The Minister added that, “this is the difference between our government and the government of Mrs. Tabaku, who speak and play politics at the expense of Albanians. We have addressed every problem that affects Albanians, we will continue to do it through social packages designed to support all households connected to our energy system, small and medium business despite the fact that we put it on free energy market. The government will do the best to cushion the citizens from the impact of the crisis.”

In a televised interview, Balluku spoke about the situation in the country regarding the price of energy and proposal for another price for consumers over 700 kV.

“There are two different facts, first of all there is no decision yet. We have started a market analysis to see how it might work. In case a household consumption exceeds 700 kV, a different price will apply, which in fact was demanded by the public, because not everyone should pay the same price. As Prime Minister has put it several times, “families that consume for lighting of yards, swimming pools, gardens should not have the same treatment as those for basic consumption”, she said.

Balluku added that the government will not change anything from what it has said, the household consumer will be cushioned from the soaring energy price, the same will apply to small business.
