Balla assessed that the cooperation with the US is at an excellent level which is in the interests of democratic developments, the strengthening of the rule of law and the principles of the market economy, Albania’s European Union accession, the preservation of stability, peace and prosperity in our region and beyond, the fight against terrorism as well as the common defensive and responsive approach to cyberattacks.

“We are grateful to the US and the Embassy in Tirana for the cooperation and assistance they have given to Albania during these years especially in drafting and implementation of the Justice Reform as well as in the establishment and strengthening of institutional capacities in the fight against corruption and crime organized,” said Balla.

He assured that “we will continue to work closely with the United States and other partners in improving the legal framework for financing political parties and election campaigns.”

“Russia has long been involved in attacks on democracy in many countries through the financing of political parties and other actors. I remind you that the Parliament of Albania approved in December 2019 a Resolution ‘On foreign interference in electoral processes and disinformation in national democratic processes,’ making a reference to these threats and asking the institutions to take all pre-cautionary and preventive measures,” he said.
