In his remarks in plenary session, Balla said that this initiative is aimed at repairing the damage caused to Albania by this President.

How come the President asks the people to sharpen their pitchforks, scythes, axes and whatever they have… and have them ready for Sunday. We should be afraid of America because they have missiles, Russia either, even this North Korean. Never before has the institution of President been discredited in such a banal way. “We have had a president who has declared war on the people, or a president who has stirred a debate about mustaches, but never like this,” said Balla.

Balla went on saying that there is not any specific motivation behind the request to dismiss Meta, such as appointing any of our representative in his stead.

“The procedure for dismissal of Ilir Meta is a moral obligation towards the Constitution. Let us rid Albania of the discredit brought by Ilir Meta through his actions. His clash with the US, his nightmare that they will kill him with missiles, are sufficient evidence for the commander of our Armed Forces to be discharged as soon as possible. Failure to take this initiative on our part would be under-reporting a crime to justice. This is a service intended to restore the institutional dignity to our Albania. Our Albania does not deserve this shame,” he said.

According to Balla, “our inaction would be tantamount to the breach of duty unless parliament starts any dismissal procedure and puts up with these scandalous acts by the man holding the post of president.

“Therefore I thank all 49 signatories for this service in the best interest of Albania’s institutional dignity,” he said.

Balla also seized the opportunity to call on Lulzim Basha, saying “DP has already in this hall the deputies who competed on April 25. It would be their honor to join us in this initiative. Meta before, during and after the election campaign has seriously violated the Constitution. He did not represent the unity of the nation, on the contrary he called for clashes, calls that led to armed conflicts,” said Balla.
