TIRANA, November 14/ATA/ Deputy Prime Minister and at the same time Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku held two bilateral meetings in Baku on the sidelines of the COP29 proceedings.

“During the bilateral meetings with North Macedonia Energy Minister Sanja Bozinovska and Energy Minister of Bulgaria Vladimir Malinov, we discussed a major topic that is in the interest of all four countries of Corridor 8. It was about the interconnection lines connecting Albania with North Macedonia and North Macedonia with Bulgaria. In both bilateral meetings, we agreed that it is time to move as quickly as possible with this important interconnection, which is part of Corridor 8, as there are also railways and highways. Meanwhile, the projects underway for the construction of interconnection lines should be completed as soon as possible, taking into account the continuous increase of generating capacities in all the countries of the 8th Corridor and the needs of the market of these countries for more energy”, wrote Balluku in the post in the social media.

Dozens of leaders attended the UN Climate Change Conference, COP29, in Azerbaijan’s capital, Baku. They discussed ways on how to curb the climate crisis and mitigate its consequences, which include more frequent and severe floods, cyclones, forest fires, heat waves and droughts. The summit also aims to address new financial commitments to poor countries that are particularly affected by climate change. /a.f/p.s./
