President Osmani said that Kosovo’s membership with the Council of Europe is a top priority for the country in order to protect human rights and welfare of all citizens.

President Osmani expressed gratitude to Bakoyannis for preparing the opinion on Kosovo’s bid to join the Council of Europe, voicing confidence that the process will be fair and merit-based.

She added that Kosovo is ready to meet all the necessary standards for membership.

“Kosovo is committed to fulfilling all the Council of Europe membership standards. The Constitution of Kosovo has already included the key conventions of the Council of Europe, making them applicable in Kosovo. In this spirit, Kosovo is strongly committed to European values, including democracy, human rights and the rule of law,” Osmani said according to a press release by her office.
